family time is sooooo precious to us. we try so hard to go somewhere other than at home on our days off because we end up doing “house” stuff and not really hanging out with the kids. do you parents know what i mean? i have no idea how dishes, or laundry, or shopping or whatever else just happens to fall on our days off and there goes the whole day.
so alex and i packed up the kids and took a drive to the elmira maple syrup festival to simply enjoy doing nothing more than hanging out. the boys had a blast and so did we!!! along side of the maple syrup, this small little town put on quite the country fair. complete with pigs and cows, we explored old mcdonald’s farm…
here he is, farmer mcdonald himself! in the flesh! ha!

and little piglets to see up close. hey did you know they cut their tales off when they are born because otherwise they all bite them off?!?!?! ah! random farm fact i could have gone through life not knowing – and so i share it with you.

a stray maze was supposed to be fun for the kids but little tayus who is just 2 (almost 3) freaked out. big brother jomei came to the recue and led him through holding hands all the way. isn’t that sweet? i love jomei for that, he is a sweet soul and a great big brother. at just 21 months apart, sometimes i look at them like they are the same age and forget that tayus still has some catching up to do! jomei is my little helper and says he’s going to teach him “everything he knows”.

this was soooo funny. they had a life sized cow for the kids to milk! it was just water coming out but i will tell you that utter felt way too real!!!! it grossed me out but they had a blast giving it a go.

i used to do a lot of horseback riding – man i miss it. these are gorgeous animals. i think one day i will be drawn to move out of the city where i can have horses and a screened in front porch. oh and of course it would be right by the lake. what, i don’t ask for much?!?!?!

my sweetpea thinking about who knows what…

ahhh, a day spent with my beautiful little family. not much beats that. what do you do on your days off? how do you find ways to make sure the time spent with your kids is quality time??? ideas? please comment and let us know!
